A beautifully crafted antique silver centerpiece bowl, this striking piece hails from Germany or Austria, and dates to the early 20th century (circa 1910–1935). Fashioned from solid .900 fine silver and weighing a substantial 362 grams, it exemplifies the refined elegance of Central European export silver from the pre-war era.
The bowl features an elongated oval form with a lightly hammered surface, resting on a broad, flared pedestal base. Its crowning details are the ornate pierced scrollwork border and gracefully curved handles, each terminating in a medallion finial — a hallmark of decorative silver design during the Jugendstil (Art Nouveau) to Art Deco transition.
While the only hallmark is a clear “900” silver purity stamp, the style and construction strongly suggest origin from a skilled workshop in Hanau, Germany, or Vienna, Austria. These regions were well-known for producing finely wrought silver with simplified markings, particularly for export markets.
Whether used as a functional centerpiece or displayed as a collector’s showpiece, this antique silver bowl offers timeless charm, exceptional craftsmanship, and investment-worthy purity.
